About the event
What is Ancient Kingdoms Festival?
The Ancient Kingdoms Festival is organised by the Royal Commission for AlUla through AlUla Moments. Its first edition, themed 'Journeys Through Time', ran from 20 November to 6 December 2025. The programme focuses on the Nabataean, Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms, with guided walks, Hegra After Dark, drone shows and candlelit concerts. A 2027 edition is expected in a similar window if the festival continues, but this has not been confirmed.
AlUla's landscapes and archaeological sites, including Hegra, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, offer striking backdrops. Hotels, tour operators and travel brands rely on high-quality photo and video content to promote AlUla to international and domestic visitors, and the festival's night-time events need crews with specialist low-light photography and filming skills.
