What is the Pyramids Half Marathon?
The Pyramids Half Marathon is a professionally timed race weekend on the Giza plateau, open to beginners, families and experienced runners. Its December timing and setting attract a large international field, with the 2025 edition drawing more than 10,000 runners from over 120 nationalities. Recent editions have offered a 5K on the Friday and 10K and half marathon races on the Saturday, with professional timing and race packages for all distances.
Running clubs, corporate teams, charities and running tourists take part. Sponsors benefit from aerial footage, finish-line photography and same-day social content. The combination of thousands of runners and the pyramids backdrop produces some of the most shareable sports imagery in Egypt each year.
