About the event
What is El Gouna Film Festival?
El Gouna Film Festival has grown since 2017 into one of the most visible film events in the Arab world. Its programme combines competitions for features, documentaries and shorts with premieres, panel discussions, masterclasses and workshops. The CineGouna platform supports projects in development and post-production, and the 2026 edition adds CineGouna Series, a new initiative for Arabic television projects. Screenings and events take place across venues in the purpose-built resort town on the Red Sea, around 25 kilometres north of Hurghada.
The festival draws filmmakers, actors, producers, distributors, critics and regional media to the resort town for nine days. Red-carpet arrivals, sponsor activations and industry sessions generate a steady stream of content, so brands and partners rely on fast photography, short-form video and social posts to make the most of their presence. Festival evenings are widely followed by regional entertainment media and on social platforms across the Arab world.
