About the event
What is Cairo International Book Fair?
The Cairo International Book Fair has been held since 1969 and is a cornerstone of Arab cultural life. Publishers from Egypt, the Arab world and beyond exhibit alongside a programme of seminars, author signings, poetry evenings and children's activities. Registration for publishers opened in autumn 2026, and organisers are developing a unified app with smart search, maps and electronic ticketing. The fair is held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo, which has hosted it since 2019, and Qatar has been named guest of honour for the 58th edition.
The 2026 edition welcomed 1,457 publishers and was reported to have drawn around 6.2 million visitors, from students and families to authors and cultural officials. Publishers, cultural bodies and sponsors use photography, author interviews and social content to reach audiences well beyond the halls. The fair's scale makes it one of the most visible cultural events in the region, with daily coverage on Egyptian television and social media. Guest-of-honour pavilions, author events and publisher launches all benefit from planned photo and video coverage.
