Beat Diabetes: 5K+ tickets sold in one week on 43% of the budget
Landmark Group needed to sell 5,000 Beat Diabetes tickets online in one week, just days after Dubai Run 30x30. Multiple Facebook and Instagram campaigns with strong calls to action, targeting similar-event, CSR and sports audiences, sold 5K+ online tickets in one week with only 43% of the budget consumed.
The challenge
Landmark Group's Beat Diabetes event had to sell 5,000 tickets in a single week. The timing made it harder still: the campaign ran just days after Dubai Run 30x30 had absorbed the city's attention, so many runners and fitness fans had only just taken part in a major event. Persuading people to commit to another race so soon, at that volume and within a week, required a campaign that cut through quickly and reached the right people.
The objective
The objective was to hit the full online ticket sales target before race day, within budget. There was no flexibility on the deadline, so the campaign had to build momentum immediately and convert interest into purchases fast, while keeping spending under control throughout the sales window.
Our strategy
We ran multiple Facebook and Instagram campaigns rather than a single ad set. Running several campaigns in parallel makes it possible to test different messages and audiences at once and shift budget towards whatever sells fastest. Every campaign used strong calls to action, so people seeing the ads knew exactly what to do next and could buy a ticket with as little friction as possible during a one-week window.
Targeting focused on three audience groups: people interested in similar events, CSR-minded audiences who respond to a good cause, and sports audiences already active in running and fitness. Reaching these overlapping groups meant the ads landed with people most likely to sign up. The campaign sold 5K+ online tickets in one week with just 43% of the budget consumed.
What you can apply
- Run several campaigns in parallel to find the winning message and audience fast.
- Make the call to action unmistakable when the sales window is short.
- Target audiences with proven interest: similar events, the cause and the activity.
Questions, answered.
How do you sell event tickets online in a short timeframe?
Launch quickly with several ad variations, clear calls to action and a simple path to purchase. Target people who attend similar events or care about the cause, then move budget daily towards the best-performing ads. Short windows reward fast optimisation more than large, slow-moving campaigns.
Which audiences work best for charity or CSR sports events?
Useful groups usually include people interested in comparable events, those who engage with social causes and audiences active in the relevant sport. Combining these interests reaches people who are both able and motivated to take part, and messaging can highlight the cause as well as the experience.
Why use Facebook and Instagram for event ticket campaigns?
Both platforms allow precise targeting by interests and behaviour, support visual formats that suit events and let people move from an ad to a ticket page in a few taps. Running campaigns across both widens reach while keeping budget and reporting managed in one place.
