About the event
What is Liwa Date Festival?
The Liwa Date Festival marks the summer date harvest with competitions for the best date varieties grown by Emirati farmers, alongside a heritage market, handicrafts, traditional food and family activities. It is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The 22nd edition ran from 14 to 23 July 2026, so the 23rd edition is expected in July 2027.
The 2026 edition drew around 80,000 visitors from across the UAE and the GCC, with more than 465 farmers competing in 23 categories for prizes worth over AED 8 million. For sponsors and partner authorities, strong photo and video content helps show their support for farmers and national heritage to audiences who cannot travel to Liwa in the summer heat.
